Key Findings

Executive Summary

Ali Alghanim & Sons demonstrates a solid foundational ESG program in its 2025 standalone sustainability report, with a credible two-year GHG inventory across three scopes, detailed energy/water/waste data, ISO 14001/9001/45001 frameworks, and disclosure aligned to Boursa Kuwait ESG Guidelines and GRI 2021. Social disclosure is moderately strong, featuring quantified community investment, gender-disaggregated training and workforce demographics, a Supplier Code of Conduct with embedded labour-rights clauses, and declining injury counts. Governance is the relative strength, with a structured board, three committees including ESG oversight, COSO ERM integration, a comprehensive ethics and whistleblowing framework, and zero reported violations. The principal weaknesses are the complete absence of quantified reduction targets and third-party assurance, no renewable energy, no sustainable finance activity, very low female representation (8.7% workforce, 0% board), and no TCFD-aligned climate disclosure. Overall the company is at a credible early-to-mid maturity stage with clear pathways for advancement through target-setting, assurance, and diversity improvement.

Strengths

Comprehensive two-year GHG inventory across Scope 1, 2 and partial Scope 3 using GHG Protocol methodology (DEFRA/IEA factors) with revenue intensity metrics and detailed energy/water/waste data under an ISO 14001-certified EMS
Strong governance foundation with three board committees (Audit, N&R, Risk Management with ESG oversight), CEO/Chair separation, COSO ERM integration, and a substantive ethics/anti-corruption framework with confidential whistleblowing and zero reported violations
Transparent standalone sustainability report aligned to Boursa Kuwait ESG Guidelines and GRI 2021 with a full ESG content index, materiality assessment, stakeholder engagement, and a Supplier Code of Conduct extending labour-rights and human-rights expectations across the value chain

Areas for Improvement

Set quantified, time-bound reduction targets for GHG emissions, energy, water and waste, and obtain external/third-party assurance of sustainability data (currently Not Applicable across all metrics)
Advance climate strategy toward formal TCFD-aligned disclosure with scenario analysis and physical/transition risk categorization, and introduce renewable energy (rooftop PV) and water recycling systems given 0% renewables and rising 57.8% water consumption
Strengthen board and workforce diversity from the current 8.7% female workforce and 0% female board representation by adopting a standalone D&I policy with quantified targets and disclosing the Kuwaitization rate
